RIPE Atlas Quarterly Planning

We launched this initiative in Q2 2022, and we are open to improving what we publish here and how we do that. So let us know if there are ways we can better present our plans.

We will update this page as our activities progress and continue to share updates on RIPE Labs, on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion, MAT Working Group (WG) and RIPE Atlas mailing lists, and at RIPE Meetings and other events.

Q2 2025 Plans

Item 1: UI renewal

We are working on restructuring and renewing the pages of the user interface to make them more user-friendly.

Status: In progress

Item 2: Infrastructure renewal

We are working on containerising the infrastructure components and modernising the OS, libraries, and frameworks on which we depend.

The component related to the communication with probes ("controllers") was finished in September 2024, and the current work is focused on API/UI, after which we’ll move on to the remaining components.

Item 3: Implementing Earlier Proposals

We are working on implementing two earlier proposals: limitations on “probe farming” and supporting “measurement aggregators”.

Item 4: Probe Firmware Packaging

We are continuing our work on making the probe firmware process more streamlined. After releasing Debian and Redhat versions we are moving on to OpenWrt.

Item 5: Improve Support and Offerings for Particular Use Cases

As described in the Activity Plan 2025, we started working on increasing membership benefits and improving support for particular use cases.

Community Input on Planning

We want the community to contribute to our plans and suggest additional work items. Please share your comments with us or post them on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion, MAT WG or RIPE Atlas mailing lists. We'll also monitor all the other channels where people talk about these services.
