That's back to "I want everyone else to pay more, and I want to pay less".

I want the same thing, but of course *we* should pay less, and *you* should
pay more.  And I can find lots of arguments why this is more fair (like,
because we build this whole thing that you can now take for granted, or
something else).

So, a reasonable compromise seems to be "all members pay the same", and
this is what members vote for, multiple times.
