Upcoming Revocation of API Keys for LIR Portal Accounts

We will be revoking API keys associated with certain LIR Portal accounts that have been created by admins no longer associated with the accounts. We are contacting a number of members to inform them about the removal of these API keys from their LIR Portal accounts. If you are using any of the affected API keys in your systems, please regenerate them before 6 August.

A Comprehensive Review of RIR Policies in the Domain of AS Number Management

A research team at TU Delft is researching the management of AS Numbers across RIRs as well as the potential impact of the new annual maintenance fees for ASNs. Community members and network administrators are invited to share their thoughts about ASN management in a survey, linked in the article on RIPE Labs.

Quarterly Sanctions Transparency Report Q3 2024

We have published our Quarterly Sanctions Transparency Report for Q3 2024. This quarterly report provides data on how RIPE NCC members, End Users and legacy resource holders are affected by sanctions, while respecting their confidentiality and privacy.

Mailing Lists Migration from Mailman 2 to Mailman 3

We have migrated all mailing lists from Mailman 2 to the Mailman 3 software suite. This upgrade will enhance the user interface and message archives for these lists. Mailman 2 and Mailman 3 are entirely different products, which brings some changes in the observed behaviour. The mail delivery process for existing subscribers will not change.

2. Information Services

On RIPE Labs, Nitinder Mohan shares the results of a multifaceted active and passive measurement study uncovering the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to Starlink performance.

Assessing the Security of Internet Paths

On RIPE Labs, Shyam Krishna Khadka explores whether a CI (critical infrastructure) can know all the possible paths to reach their destination and the security status of those paths.

3. Community and Engagement

RIPE 89 Call for Presentations

The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals for
plenary presentations, lighting talks, tutorials and BoFs at RIPE 89.

Both in-person and remote presentations are encouraged and will be accepted.

The deadline to submit a presentation proposal is Friday, 23 August 2024.

CAPIF 3

CAPIF will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, from 24-25 September. The call for presentations is open until 20 August.

RIPE NCC Training

We are looking to partner with organisations in different locations to host training courses throughout the year. By hosting a training course, your organisation can register additional attendees while contributing to capacity-building efforts in your region. Read more about the requirements to host a training course.

For Q4 2024, we are looking for hosts in the following cities: Brussels, Bucharest, Belgrade, Bratislava, Riga, Ljubljana and Paris.

This summer, anyone who completes an e-learning course before 31 August can claim a RIPE NCC Certified Professionals exam voucher. You can sign up for our online summer school for free in the RIPE NCC Academy.

RIPE NCC Webinars for the Ukrainian Internet Community

At the request of the Ukrainian RIPE community, on 12 and 13 June 2024 the RIPE NCC organised two webinars for the Ukrainian community on LIR Procedures and Operating the RIPE Database. The RIPE NCC’s Alex Semenyaka shared a report on the webinars on RIPE Labs.

RIPE NCC and EuroDIG Sign MoU

The RIPE NCC and EuroDIG have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their commitment to collaborative efforts in Internet governance.

Policy Update

The RIPE NCC has implemented the RIPE Policy Proposal 2023-04 “Add AGGREGATED-BY-LIR status for IPv4 PA assignments”.

Improving Navigation on ripe.net

On RIPE Labs, the RIPE NCC’s Ulka Athale goes over improvements on ripe.net for better ease of access to content.

The RIPE Chair Team Reports: July 2024

The RIPE Chair Team’s latest report covers policy discussions around IPv6 stockpiling and NIS2, latest efforts to increase RIPE visibility, further steps to maintain accountability and transparency on RIPE mailing lists, and an array of recent industry events like ISOC Community Day and an ICANN webinar.
