Bijal gave an update on the co-chair election status, mentioning that Kurtis had stepped down and there was a call for volunteers to take his place. There was one volunteer: Kurtis. There was support for him to continue as co-chair on the mailing list.
Bijal added that having no new volunteers to stand as chair raised a question that either everyone is happy with the existing co-chairs work or there was something else that they weren't aware of.
Nat Morris, Netflix, came to the mic to express their support in Kurtis continuing as chair.
Gert Döring, Address Policy Working Group, commented that they also experienced this in the Address Policy Working Group.
Janos Zsako, RIPE NCC Executive Board, also echoed his support for Kurtis and complimented his work with the WG and thanked him.
The audience applauded.
Bijal thanked Kurtis and declared consensus.

Brian Nisbet, HEAnet, commented that RIPE 76 will be the week of 16 May 2018and this was too close to when the GDPR comes into effect to provide an update to the community. He asked for information well in advance of RIPE 76. is too late for an update.
Axel said that there would be an update before that but didn’t think there would be much of direct impact but if there was, they would of course update in advance.
Athina Fragkouli, RIPE NCC, commented that the RIPE NCC planned to report back to the RIPE community with regular updates well in advance of 25 May 2018.
Musallam Alfarsi, Research Council from Oman, commented on the explosion of RIPE NCC members and asked Axel what the RIPE NCC would do to manage this growth - will things carry on as they are now or will new strategies come into play to provide a better experience for members in the region.
Axel replied that he thinks that the rapid growth is a temporary result of new members joining to obtain a /22 of IPv4. Nonetheless, the RIPE NCC is continually looking at efficiencies and how they can make their systems and member interaction more efficient.
There were no further questions.

Marco Hogewoning relayed a question on chat from Arash from Parsun, who commented that members in Iran cannot access the webinars.
Rumy replied that they are looking at this, it’s one of the things that Jad El Cham from the Dubai office is working on. She added that the webinars are all recorded and can be accessed afterwards, but this doesn’t provide an opportunity for participation. She said addressing these accessibility issues is a high priority.

An audience speaker said he loved the idea of putting that dataset together but had concerns about putting data together from different dates. He said comparing metrics from different dates might skew the data. He said it was not a showstopper, suggested forecasting, it easy to use, forecasting library from Facebook called “Profit”.
Christian thanked him for the useful feedback and clarified that the feedback used from the World Bank was from 2015. He added that the RIPE NCC has a strong focus on data quality. He mentioned Google’s intensive flow system and applying data mining, time series regression and doing predictions on that is what they have in mind.
Christian showed an additional slide about data correlations between Internet infrastructure and the GDP.
There were no further questions.
H. Open Microphone Session / AOB
Kurtis asked the audience if there were any further comments or questions.
An audience speaker commented that from time to time ,there’s difficulties with the RIPE NCC and they would like the possibility to give feedback on tickets and rate the answers provided by the RIPE NCC staff.
He added that companies that participate in IPv4 transfers want more control on the transfer process. Brokers want to see the process of documents have been submitted and see the status of tickets.
Andrew de la Haye, RIPE NCC, commented that the old ticketing system is being replaced and it could have short-term effects on the SLA so bear with them, but there will be an opportunity to rate the results from tickets. He invited the speaker to speak to him further about this offline.
Andrew added that, with regards to transfers, there will be an option to log in to the LIR Portal to see the status of the transfer.
Kurtis clarified and asked if you could see the status of the documents being processed.
Andrew said that it isn’t currently, but they are working to make the process more predictable.
Kurtis asked that everyone leave the room so the RIPE NCC GM could start in time.
