Maria asked the room for input on their ideas.

Wilfried Woeber, University of Vienna, wondered whether the RACI initiative could somehow be combined with the idea of supporting national and regional forums so that real-life needs could be met.

Kurtis suggested that further discussion of this can be taken to the mailing list.

Alexander Isavnin, NetLine, voiced his support for the election of Salam and Maria to the RIPE NCC Executive Board and applause demonstrated the audience's agreement with this sentiment.

There were no further questions for Salam or Maria.

E. RIPE NCC Operational Update

Andrew de la Haye, RIPE NCC

The presentation is available at:

Brian Nisbet, HEAnet, made the group aware of an issue that was raised in the Anti-Abuse WG, where people are experiencing problems with address space being hijacked during the transfer process.

Kurtis asked whether the RIPE NCC would publish some guidelines on this matter and Andrew agreed that this would be a good idea.

Elvis Velea, IPv4 Escrow, clarified that in order to combat this they were asking their customers to continue announcing the space until the transfer is complete.

There were no other questions for Andrew.

F. RIPE NCC Academy

There were no other questions for Ivo.

H. RIPE NCC Services WG Chair Elections

Kurtis Lindqvist and Bijal Sanghani, RIPE NCC Services WG Chairs

The presentation is available at:

https://ripe69.ripe.net/presentations/50-chair-selection.pdf

Randy Bush, IIJ, and Rüdiger Volk, Deutsche Telekom, asked the WG Chairs to come up with a collective process instead of a separate one for each working group.

Heather Schiller, ARIN, thought they all sounded the same and Kurtis confirmed that he had tried to achieve this.

Jim Reid, DNS WG chair, clarified that there was difference of opinion in which voting scheme would be best but that all the proposals seem to be very similar.

Kurtis said he would send the final proposal to the list.

I. Open Microphone Session

David Freedman, Claranet, asked for an update on the implementation of 2007-08 (Publication of Sponsoring LIR).

Daniel Stolpe, Resilans, confirmed that some Sponsoring LIRs were already visible in the RIPE Database.

Ingrid Wijte, RIPE NCC, reported that 24,000 of the 32,000 resources had already been updated in the RIPE Database and said that the rest were due to be updated during the rest of the year.

Joost Tholhuijsen, ABN AMRO, asked Rumy whether non-Registry activities, such as the RIPE NCC Academy, caused the RIPE NCC to be in competition with its members. Rumy clarified that the content of the courses was focused on RIPE NCC Services and on interacting with the RIPE NCC. She stressed that the RIPE NCC had reacted to requests from members for more courses and more hands-on tuition and that there was no intention to compete with members.

Randy underlined that the courses were not generic, but were specific to RIPE NCC tools and suggested that the question should be whether the usability of RIPE NCC tools could be improved without the need for training courses. He noted that the work done on the RPKI interface was a very good example of how this was already being addressed by the RIPE NCC.

Kaveh Ranjbar, RIPE NCC, added that teaching people how to put accurate data into the RIPE Database benefited everyone.

Z. AOB

Kurtis thanked everyone for their participation and closed the session at 17:35.
