How to Vote

Attending and voting at the RIPE NCC General Meeting is an important way to contribute to the governance and direction of the organisation.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to vote in the RIPE NCC General Meeting.

Check your eligibility

  • One person from each member organisation is entitled to register to vote at the General Meeting.
  • The organisation must have been a RIPE NCC member for longer than six months.
  • The member must not have been suspended and must have full membership (with up-to-date fees paid).
  • If a member has multiple LIRs, voting rights are assigned to the primary LIR. To register to vote, you must be a contact person for the primary LIR.
  • Admin and Regular LIR Portal accounts may register to attend the GM (as well as those individuals as listed under 16.4 of the Articles of Association).
  • Those who have Billing user accounts and Guest user accounts in the LIR Portal cannot register to attend the General Meeting.

Register for the General Meeting

To vote, you need to register for the General Meeting in advance.

  • Go to my.ripe.net
  • In the left-hand navigation, click 'My LIR' > 'General Meeting'
  • Select the option to attend in person or online
  • Choose the organisation(s) you will represent
  • Click 'submit'
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your registration number

The deadline to register to attend and vote is 30 October 2024 at 14:00 (UTC+1).

Request a proxy vote

If you can't attend the General Meeting online or onsite and would like someone else to attend and vote on behalf of your member organisation, you can nominate a proxy.

Voting instructions

The General Meeting will use Assembly Voting, the third-party online voting platform.

Voters will receive two emails from Assembly Voting. Once voting is open, all eligible voters with a link can access the voting pages and cast their vote.

Voting opens: Wednesday, 30 October during the GM
Voting closes: Friday, 1 November at 09:00 (UTC+1)

How to vote

Overview:

  • All registered eligible voters will receive Voting Code 2 from Assembly Voting by email.
  • This code is identical to your GM Registration Number.
  • Assembly Voting will send another email containing a unique link to the online voting platform and Voting Code 1 (which is pre-filled).
  • Voters need to use their unique link to access the voting platform and must enter Voting Code 2 in order to cast their vote.
  • This link will be only active when the vote is open.

Troubleshooting

  • If you have not received the voting emails, please contact [email protected].
  • Both emails will be sent before the election opens on 30 October at approximately 18:00 (UTC+1).
  • To receive the emails from Assembly Voting your email server needs to be TLS 1.2 compliant.
  • The emails will come from [email protected].
  • If you are using Safari on your mobile, the pre-filled code (Voting Code 1) might not appear. In this case, you need to copy/paste it from the e-mail containing the link to the voting platform.
  • Please be aware that Internet Explorer cannot be used to access the system.
