Workshop Description and Summary
This is a five-day, hands-on workshop. During the workshop you will:
- Learn about open-source tools for creating server infrastructure that is efficient, secure and scalable
- Learn about tools and techniques that can be used to mitigate security threats
- Learn about operational practices that leverage configuration management, best common practices, and virtualisation technologies to systematise your IT infrastructure

Target Audience
This workshop is for technical staff who have some operational experience with virtualisation technology and would like to improve their operational practices and the security of their infrastructure. There will be an overview of fundamentals, but the focus of the workshop is on best practices, monitoring and security.
Workshop Requirements
- UNIX command-line experience is necessary to be successful in this class. Our workshops are focused on hands-on experience for the students.
- This workshop is not focused on networking, but some familiarity with TCP/IP networking will be useful to understand the concepts we will teach.
All participants need to bring a (WiFi-accessible) laptop to the workshop. A tablet or phone will not be compatible for completing the lab exercises or accessing the course materials.
Registration
Attendance at the five-day workshops is free of charge. The workshop includes lunch and coffee breaks for the scheduled four days.
Each day runs from 9:30-18:00, with lunch served between 13:00-14:00.
