The RIPE NCC Disables SSLv3 Encryption For Its Services
The RIPE NCC disabled SSLv3 encryption for most of its services following a report last week about a bug that allows an attacker to compromise the encryption under certain conditions.
An internal investigation showed no evidence of any unauthorised access to our network or compromise of members' data.
Full details about the bug (dubbed 'POODLE') have been published by Google.
We are committed to protecting our IT infrastructure and safeguarding our members' data. The RIPE NCC will continue to disable SSLv3 for the rest of its services soon. This may impact some older software and result in an SSL connection error, especially for Internet Explorer 6 running on Windows XP or older.
