Andrei Robachevsky

Name: Constanze Buerger

Organisation: Member of the ASO AC

I have had the privilege of working alongside Andrei Robachevsky in several capacities related to Internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, and Internet governance topics .

I got to know him more than 15 years ago while he worked as CTO for the RIPE NCC . His challenge was in improving the resilience and security of critical Internet infrastructure, he was a good advisor to many issues and knows the community very well.

At the Internet Society (ISOC), Andrei consistently demonstrated an exceptional understanding of complex technical and policy issues. His ability to navigate the ever-evolving challenges of cybersecurity while ensuring the open and secure development of the internet was invaluable. He spearheaded multiple initiatives focused on infrastructure resilience, providing both strategic leadership and technical insight, ensuring that the internet remains robust against modern cyber threats.

His ability to communicate complex concepts and build consensus among diverse stakeholders is one of his strongest assets, and his work continues to shape the future of the Internet.

Name: Dr. Konstantinos Komaitis

Organisation: DFRLab, The Atlantic Council

My name is Konstantinos Komaitis and I am currently a senior resident fellow at the democracy and tech initiative at the Atlantic Council. I have been engaging in Internet technology and policy discussions for the past twenty years, having served as a senior director at the Internet Society.

I would like to support the nomination of Andrei Robachevsky for the NRO NC. I have known Andrei now for more than a decade and I have always been impressed by his knowledge and expertise. At the Internet Society, Andrei has navigated me through some complex technology issues, which combined with his understanding of policy allows him to be a critical thinker of many of the challenges facing today’s Internet. He has been part of the technical community for 25 years and has contributed to some of the most significant policy and technology conversations, including the IANA transition.

Amongst other things, Andrei is a visionary. He has been the mastermind behind MANRS, one of the most forward looking initiatives that seeks to tackle issues of security. The way this initiative has grown and the prominence that has acquired among different actors throughout the internet ecosystem, including governments, shows just how much of a thinker he is. He has this incredible ability to communicate extremely complex issues in a plain language and this makes a huge difference depending on the audience; Andrei can speak equally to technologists and policy makers.

I have worked close with Andrei for many years and there is no one better that one could work with. His work ethic is one of this strongest qualities and his vision is to be admired. Andrei believes in team work and he always tries to foster collaborative environments and facilitate consensus building.

I can’t think of anyone more suitable for this role.
