Consultation on Draft "RIR Governance Document"

The Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) invites input from the RIR and ICANN communities on the draft “Governance Document for the Recognition, Maintenance, and Derecognition of Regional Internet Registries”. This document aims to update the existing Internet Coordination Policy (ICP-2): Criteria for Establishment of New Regional Internet Registries document

As a part of the Regional Internet Registry (RIR) system, the RIPE community has been called to contribute to the ongoing global multistakeholder discussion on the revision of ICP-2. We invite you to share your feedback on this document via the RIPE Discussion list until Tuesday, 27 May 2025

The feedback received from the RIPE community during this period will be provided to the NRO NC for their consideration during the revision process of the draft RIR Governance Document.

The RIPE community is invited to participate in the process to update ICP-2 in the following ways:

The RIPE NRO NC representatives, Constanze Bürger, Andrei Robachevsky and Hervé Clément, will be available to answer questions at the online sessions and during RIPE 90.

All the planned sessions during which the NRO NC will share information on the draft “RIR Governance Document” and the process to update ICP-2 will be listed on the NRO website. The sessions will also be recorded and archived, links to the recordings will also be listed on the same webpage. Community engagements across all regions are listed in the ICP-2 section on the NRO website.

ICANN is also hosting a Public Comment proceeding to gather feedback on this document in parallel with the RIR community consultations.

  • 12-16 May: BoF on ICP-2 review during RIPE 90
