All, The Advisory AS690 lines were initially intended as a transition step to last from December through March 1995. Needless to say, we fell way behind this schedule. Curtis has a plan coded and in testing which will make Advisory lines totally--well: advisory. Under his plan, all policy expressions in the AS690 aut-num object will be AS-based, but advisory attributes can be used to give end-AS suggestions to AS690 about how they would like their routing handled. It may well be the the RIPE database can totally ignore the advisory concept, and that Curtis' scheme will handle RIPE-based registrations well anyway. (MCI can continue its current use of Advisories as they like). I hope this is true; it would be wonderful. But ANS will have to speak for these details; they are in control of that situation now. --Dale > + If you suspect you have newer data, please tell the user asking where he > wants to be registered.
