I think you should have something between RIPE and Gilles'proposals: The component syntax should only include the originator's AS and (of course) the IP address: component: <ip adress> <AS>|HOLE If someone wants to add a community or whatever he should create a route object and add the community in this object. As for the 'routed or not routed' thread, i cannot figure out an example where the route is routed and the components are not (except the holes :-) Does 'routed' means "announced with a E/BGP by someone" or "present in some configuration file" or "connected to the Internet"? It is kind of a pointless discussion IMHO.
