Good! Excellent content. I suggested to David Conrad that this presentation make the clearest possible statement about the service quality and viability in the medium term. He understood. He also told me that this service was approved at the highest level in ICANN. But some more candid public statements are needed. I also suggested to David, that he provide a preview of that presentation to Jim whenever Jim happens to wear his RIPE TF and WG chair hat. ;-) Further, in my judgement, a statement from RIPE like "Should IANA discontinue the service before the root is signed we want the RIPE NCC to take it over asap.?" would not be necessary bt sufficient for ICANN to keep a "provisional" service up. ICANN will intrinsically be inclined to retain services which it must consider "core" to its raison d'etre. (A "provisional" service probably is even more stable because it presents less of a target for ICANN's layer 10 processes. :-) Daniel
