One should certainly not lose any existing display. As the Atlas website
is currently organized in tabs ('My measurements', 'Public
measurements', '<udm1>', '<udm2>'...), my suggestion was to open an
additional "in-atlas-tab", instead of a browser tab. If multiple browser
tabs with atlas exists it's a tough choice. To be perfect, the first
click would open a browser tab with atlas, and the following ones would
open in-atlas-tabs with that browser tab, thus not interfering with
other actions.

Now I don't even know if that feasible - just trying to explain what *I*
would consider as nice.
