I probably miss some of your e-mails but I haven't seen a proposal 
regarding this issue. Are you referring to the discussion on irrtoolset 
mailing list where you mentioned that such feature may be desirable?

I think in order to start a discussion we need to elaborate on this. 
Especially regarding the scope (I am in favour to limit is to 
import/export only) and functionality (how/where expansion is done, 
etc.). If you would like we can prepare such proposal.

 From the database changes will be minimal, most of the work will happen 
in the IRRToolset.
