Neither trying to make a statement in favour or against, just as an observation.
2011 - 2006 = 5 years = an awefully long period of time in NetLand.

In 2006 "nobody" was interested in taking control of the 'net or the information
accessible over this tech.

Since then the world has moved on and we can now observe many attempts, by many
different parties (not exlusively governments!), to get a "better grip" on the
Internet. Things have changed a bit since 2006, I'm afraid...
