We have three objectives in publishing our quarterly planning:
We launched this initiative in Q4 2021, and we are open to improving what we publish here and how we do that. So let us know if there are ways we can better present our plans.
We will update this page as our activities progress and continue to share updates on RIPE Labs, on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion and RIPE NCC Services Working Group (WG) mailing lists, and at RIPE Meetings and other events.
Last Updated: 2 April 2024
Item 1: Strengthening the security of RIPE NCC Access: Multi-Factor Authentication and Integrations
Now that we have completed the foundation work with RIPE NCC Access, the plan for Q2 is to provide Multiple Factor Authentication methods (MFA) according to FIDO2 and Webauthn specifications (security keys and biometrics where possible). We also plan to set up Single Sign On with third parties and other services, such as the Certified Professionals service and the RIPE NCC Forum. We will also continue working on other improvements to the RIPE NCC Access solution in terms of UX, monitoring, and alerting.
Status: In progress
Item 2: Automation of the Assisted Registry Check (ARC)
The ARCs are part of the RIPE NCC's auditing activity. The process has been email-based until now, with little automation. We plan to increase automation for this activity to make it easier for members to complete it and increase the activity's efficiency and accuracy.
Status: In progress
We want the community to contribute to our plans and suggest additional work items. Please share your comments with us or post them on the RIPE NCC Membership Discussion or RIPE NCC Services WG mailing lists. We'll also monitor all the other channels where people talk about these services.
For the time being, new feature requests for the LIR Portal are on hold pending the modernisation of the RIPE NCC access solution.
You can find our plans from the previous quarters on this page. The Q2 2024 plans will be archived once we publish the Q3 2024 planning.
