just an FYI - don't panic

Just a small note on this. From my persective the RIPE folks should certainly be the keepers of the code. As shown, some of the requests are due to either not enough involvmenet in the RIPE-181 process (understandable but suggests more reading of that pesky paper ;-)) and also perhaps the fact that the documentation needs to be improved (inet-rtr router issue highlights this exaclty - this was coded in before we got agreement on the doc and then turned on the next day). As to the issue of divergence I do not think this is as difficult an issue as people are making it. I have a number of small things I've added (some of which I will be feeding back at some point) locally but by keeping a seperate copy of RIPE based specific module it is easy to patch things in. I do feel we may need to be a little more open to change but it is always a trade off of local over global need. If it is truly a global thing then it needs consensus amoung the community and this always takes time. As to a sidebar conversation I'll have to pass as I will not be at NANOG so I guess this is my input. --Tony. "Brian D.
