Several national and regional research network organisations in Europe are
presently setting up an operational unit which will provide pan-European data
communication services including a multiprotocol back-bone service (X.25 and
IP) which will evolve to a high speed backbone soon. The operational unit will
be embedded in a limited company; the location of that company will be
Cambridge (UK). The owners of that company are looking for
THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE OPERATIONAL UNIT
in order to involve her or him already from the beginning in the planning
process for the unit. The director has the technical and financial
responsibility for the unit's business and reports directly to the board of the
company. Working language for that job is English.
Candidates background and professional profile:
- sound experience in operational data networking, specifically on world wide
data networks for the research and academic community.
- a proven track record of
* managing large data communication systems in an international environment
for the research and academic community
* the ability to lead a team of highly qualified professionals
* the ability to manage large budgets
* the ability to deal with governmental funding bodies
- sensitivity of customers needs
- fluent English and preferable one other European language
Salaries are appropriate to an international job with high managerial
