Re: learning about DNS loop :-)

It is somewhat ironic that a mail about a.o. a book on DNS and Bind
cannot be delivered because of a malconfigured MX record :-)
:-) :-)

    ------- Forwarded Message

    Date: Wed, 11 Nov 92 10:59:00 +0200
    From: PMDF Mail Server postmaster@localhost
    To: postmaster@localhost, Erik.Huizer@localhost
Subject: Undeliverable mail: SMTP delivery failure

The message could not be delivered to:

    Addressee: f58fre@localhost
Reason: Cannot accept mail for this host; MX records will cause loop.

    ----------------------------------------

Looking at the MX records though:

   ; <<>> DiG 2.0 <<>> dsyibm.desy.de. mx
   ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY , status: NOERROR, id: 6
   ;; flags: qr rd ra ; Ques: 1, Ans: 1, Auth: 4, Addit: 5
   ;; QUESTIONS:
   ;;	dsyibm.desy.de, type = MX, class = IN

   ;; ANSWERS:
   dsyibm.desy.de.	172716	MX	20 dsyibm.desy.de.

there is no reason at all for such a loop. So it looks
more like a misconfigured mailer than a misconfigured
DNS to me...
