with all due respect, and as one old white male to another ...

when it comes to harassment, the ripe community is tragically normal.
this is not theory, but actual history.  there is a long wide trail of
harrassment.

that women and other non-white-male folk have left in exasperation is
not theory, but history and ongoing.  some of the tenor of this
discussion in itself likely contributes to this attrition.

i suggest, for the purpose of discussion

  o separating the code of conduct from the operational procedures

  o and discussing the real points with which one has serious issue
    while suggesting change(s) which would resolve that disagreement
