Hello Sander and ripe-list, ASO AC (Address Supporting Organization Address Council) as a collective has a defined scope. Our responsibilities are limited to: 1. Undertaking a role in the global policy development process. 2. Defining procedures for the selection of individuals to serve on other ICANN bodies, in particular on the ICANN Board, and implementing any roles assigned to the AC in such procedures. The ASO AC selects ICANN Board seats 9 and 10. 3. Providing advice to the ICANN Board on number resource allocation policy, in conjunction with the RIRs. Information about ASO AC can be found at https://aso.icann.org/ Wafa Dahmani is indeed a member of the current ASO AC from AfriNIC region, appointed by the AfriNIC Board. We can confirm that she has sent this mail in her individual capacity and her mail does not reflect any ASO AC views as a collective. Since your mail to the ripe-list, she has sent a follow-up mail to the AfriNIC Mailing list acknowledging this herself too. Kind regards, Filiz Yilmaz, Hervé Clément, Nurani Nimpuno On Wed, Jul 3, 2019 at 3:13 PM Sander Steffann <sander at steffann.nl> wrote: > Hi RIPE ASO/AC delegates, > > I just read the following on the Afrinic community mailing list, and got a > bit concerned: > > > My name is Wafa Dahmani from Tunisia, an active member of the African > community and more specifically AFRINIC: member of the appeal committee; > ASO / AC excom member and Ex Chair of Governance Committee '(GC) at AFRINIC. > > I contact you to solicit your votes for the following candidates: > > > [etc] > > While she doesn't explicitly state that she is soliciting votes on behalf > of the ASO/AC, it does seem to imply it. > > I found it hard to believe that the ASO/AC would agree with this statement > as sent by Wafa.
