Dear colleagues, On 6 May 2012, the ICANN Board ratified GPP-IPv4-2011, "Global Policy for Post Exhaustion IPv4 Allocation Mechanisms" by IANA. This global policy enables IANA to redistribute any recovered IPv4 address space equally amongst the RIRs. Following the ratification of this global policy, on 22 May 2012 the RIPE NCC returned to IANA the 1,368,576 legacy IPv4 addresses that have been returned to the RIPE NCC and plans to return any other legacy IPv4 address space that is returned to the organisation in the future. For more information about this, please see: http://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/news/announcements/returned-legacy-space The ICANN Board Resolution is available at: http://www.icann.org/en/groups/board/documents/resolutions-06may12-en.htm The full text of Global Policy GPP-IPv4-2011 is available at: https://www.icann.org/en/news/in-focus/global-addressing/allocation-ipv4-post-exhaustion Kind regards, Axel Pawlik Managing Director RIPE NCC
