RIPE makes important decisions by consensus, not votes. Other members of the PC are not appointed by the community, for instance the stuckee from the local host. I have been nodding along with a lot of what Jim has been saying here, but most vigorously at this. As one of the few people who sits on both the WG Chairs Collective and the PC (and so probably biased in all sorts of directions and unsure of whether I'm a fine person or not __ ) I can sincerely say that if the WGCC isn't right to build the NomCom, the PC definitely isn't. It would radically change the nature/purpose of the group and not, I think, for the better.
