Probes come and go all the time, so small fluctuations are always expected. When we have "events" at our colo partners (network hickups, servers going down for reboots, etc.), a larger number of probes can get disconnected temporarily. They reconnect eventually -- depending on the actual issue this may take anything from a few minutes up to an hour or two. The number shown on the website always reflects the current reality (with some minutes of caching). Hope this helps, Robert
