Hey all, I have updated the email template upon your feedback and have set up a slack channel for the participants where they can ping about issues. I have also contacted Wojciech about providing assistance while I am on holidays and have also reached out to Axel, a local Simulaqron developer, and informed him so that he might be able to help when he can. Please find the email below and send it to your participants when you get the chance. """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" Dear Applicant, We encourage you to prepare for the hackathon by spending some time to set up Simulaqron on your computers and getting a chance to play around with the software. This will allow you tos pend more of your time during the hackathon working on your projects and will also allow you to help out your teammates if they happen to face issues setting their own systems up. You can follow the Simulaqron documentation for Getting Started (https://softwarequtech.github.io/SimulaQron/html/GettingStarted.html) to install and verify your system. Once you have verified the installation you are welcome to play around with configuring and setting up your own local simulated network (https://softwarequtech.github.io/SimulaQron/html/ConfNodes.html) and going through the provided examples in Python (https://softwarequtech.github.io/SimulaQron/html/ExamplespythonLib.html) to get a feel for the flow of a program built on the simulated network. If you run into issues, feel free to reach out to us or one another in the #simulaqron_help slack channel. Good luck and looking forward to seeing you at the event! -Organization Committee """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" -Matt ________________________________ From: peqi-hackathon-orga <peqi-hackathon-orga-bounces at ripe.net> on behalf of Matt Skrzypczyk <M.D.Skrzypczyk at student.tudelft.nl> Sent: Monday, October 7, 2019 5:33:45 PM To: Pierre-Emmanuel Emeriau Cc: peqi-hackathon-orga at ripe.net Subject: Re: [peqi-hackathon-orga] Template email to send to your participants regarding technical side Thanks Marc, Pierre-Emmanuel, I have mentioned before that I am on Holidays October 9th-24th, my only concern with providing direct information for how to get help may be insufficient given my availability. I have set up a channel on Slack (simulaqron_help) where participants may be able to get assistance, but I am not sure how often I will be able to check up on the channel and how much of my time will be available for dedication. My guess is that I can also suggest that the participants help each other but this doesn't feel like a guarantee. -Matt ________________________________ From: Pierre-Emmanuel Emeriau <emeriau.pe at gmail.com> Sent: Monday, October 7, 2019 5:25:28 PM To: Matt Skrzypczyk Cc: peqi-hackathon-orga at ripe.net Subject: Re: [peqi-hackathon-orga] Template email to send to your participants regarding technical side Hi Matt, I agree with Mark for the help. Otherwise I think everything is mentioned. There is an additional space at the beginning of the second sentence that you can delete. As I mentioned, I thought it would be a good idea to give the participants time in advance to prepare their laptops and have a chance to play around with Simulaqron so that they can come to the hackathon and hit the ground running. I have attached a text file that has a suggestion for what this email might look like. If we all agree then we can send this out to the participants 😊 Let me know what you think! -Matt -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
