Hello RIPE NCC members, This is a special edition of the Member Update for RIPE 84, taking place next week from 16-20 May. Alongside the RIPE Meeting, we will also have our RIPE NCC General Meeting on Wednesday, 18 May. We will also have Working Group sessions throughout the week where you can discuss current topics and participate in chair elections. And RIPE 84 will have several exciting social sessions, parallel events and coffee breaks that are the perfect opportunity to network with fellow engineers, operators and Internet stakeholders. You’ll even have the chance to meet the RIPE Chair Team and the RIPE NCC Executive Board. Don’t miss out! Registry -- LIR Stats Number of LIRs: 23,647 (+24) Number of members: 20,330 (+41) LIRs with IPv6: 16,742 (+22) IPv4 addresses transferred in April: 644,096 (-175,616) -- Address Policy Working Group Session The Address Policy Working Group session will take place during RIPE 84 on Wednesday, 18 May in two sessions. There will be updates on the NRO NC, policy issues and the RIPE NCC’s Registry Services, as well as discussions about IPv6 policy goals, the IPv4 waiting list and the requirements for IPv4 assignments. Users can now speak to RIPE NCC staff for immediate support while using these services. Information Services -- MAT Working Group Session The MAT Working Group session will take place during RIPE 84 on Wednesday, 18 May. During the session, you will hear presentations about the RIPE NCC’s tools, anomaly reporting with RIPE Atlas, flow monitoring in bwNet, a discussion on data and more: https://ripe84.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/mat-wg/ -- Quarterly Planning We publish quarterly roadmaps for a number of our services. These outline our development teams’ plans and projects for the quarter. Ahead of the MAT Working Group at RIPE 84, where you can ask questions about these services, check out the quarterly planning for DNS and K-root, RIPE Atlas, RIS and RPKI: https://www.ripe.net/support/documentation/quarterly-planning -- TTL Lowered for NS and DS Records We have lowered the time to live (TTL) for NS and DS records in our rDNS pipeline. This allows for faster DNSSEC key updates and faster roll-out of changes to members' domain objects. -- Upgrade of Zonemaster Service The Zonemaster service, which is used to verify domain object updates, has been updated to a newer version. This provides support for newer DNSSEC algorithms, as requested by the community. -- Migration from KSK+ZSK to CSK We've completed the migration of Key Signing Keys and Zone Signing Keys (KSK+ZSK) to Combined Signing Keys (CSK) on our DNSSEC signers. All of our zones are now signed with a CSK. 3. Community and Engagement -- RIPE NCC General Meeting The final agenda for the RIPE NCC General Meeting has been published. The supporting documents, including the Annual Report 2021, Financial Report 2021 and Charging Scheme 2023, are all available to review before the meeting. On 11 May, there was an Open House session where the candidates discussed important topics of interest to members. There are currently two seats up for election on the Programme Committee. Please send your nominations to <pc at ripe.net> by 15:30 (UTC+2) on 17 May, and the election will take place at RIPE 84 from 16:00 (UTC+2) 17 May until 17:00 (UTC+2) 19 May. The results of the election will be announced on 20 May during the Closing Plenary at 11:00 (UTC+2). Projects are selected for funding by a selection committee. We currently have two spaces for volunteers to join this committee. If you are interested, submit your application by 27 May.
