Hi Andrei, Whilst it is unfortunate that some companies use this data for commercial sollicitation (Cogent isn’t the only one…), the fact that the information is in the publicly-accessible RIPE database puts this information into the public domain. Although the RIPE database Terms and Conditions specifically prohibit the use of the information for commercial solicitation (Article 4, paragraph 4 refers), in practice this restriction is difficult to enforce since the data is accessible to anyone anywhere irrespective of whether or not they are RIPE members.
