Hi, looking at the revcheck output - I have a similar script I normally use to check the "forward" zones which can also be used for the "reverse" zones. It tries to keep the number of warnings/errors minimal (the same error is usually not reported more than once). Running the script on a couple of the zones shown in Geert Jan's sample output produces: ravn% ./gethosts 212.242.193.in-addr.arpa Getting info about 212.242.193.in-addr.arpa. Lame delegation to: nic.swip.net. Lame delegation to: frida.kar.fdata.se. Transfer of zone 212.242.193.in-addr.arpa failed ravn% ./gethosts 94.242.193.in-addr.arpa Getting info about 94.242.193.in-addr.arpa. Bad name server: ns3.eu.net. Sorting addresses... ravn% This script only (currently) checks for the most rudimentary errors, mainly lame delegations, dead name servers etc. A copy of the Perl script (which requires dig version 2.0) can be found in ftp://aun.uninett.no/pub/misc/gethosts I'm not proposing this as a replacement, but if you are overwhelmed by the errors produced with Geert Jan's script you could fix the lame delegations detected by my script first and then start looking at the more detailed error report (which will be smaller) from Geert Jan's script. Regards, - Håvard
