Unfortunately all too often, we the tax-payers, only pressure public sector to keep it cheap and get it done quickly :( It can be many things: good, fast, cheap, but we can't have it all. While I agree that public sector can be of great influence, even outside the use of traditional instruments, by simply asking for and spending money on "good things", the reality is often quite different. We do need a shift in the public mindset that quality (security, privacy, safety) costs money and that in the end you get what you pay for. Secondly, we the collective industry sector, might also want to rethink our priorities in product design and delivery and consider the consumer's or user's general well being and safety a bit more. There are reasons why certain heavy equipment takes two hands to operate, maybe there is something for the I** industry to learn from.
