[iot-discussion] What role does the SP play in protecting consumers re IoT?

For me a thing is anything that has an IP address (or should I say a MAC 
address). IOT has no real importance in this discussion IMHO. It though 
happens that IOT stimulate the number of attach devices to the Internet 
and related people (good-user/bad-user). Although the growth is still 
following more or less Moore's law, so that is nothing different from 30 
years ago when I connect my first CLNS/TUBA computer).
Or perhaps when IBM predicted: "I think there is a world market for 
maybe five computers". But then Moore's law was not yet recognised...

Moore's law is very helpful as for me it seems to include: 
manufacturing, devices, people, politics, law, financing, security, 
privacy, ethics, etc. From technical to societal aspects. They all seem 
to make sure that on average we don't grow that fast...
