No, they want to bill all calls.... Correct incumbent teleco carriers do not like ENUM for the obvious reasons that is not unique to Portugal :-) > - New Telcos ? No, they want to keep their VoIP networks closed... Ah not really New Telecos especially Cable operators entering the VoIP space want to avoid paying termination and compensation to the incumbent for calls. They wish to engage in IP to IP end to end calling and a "bill and keep" economic model of interconnection. Consequently have a very serious rationale for using ENUM in some form Public, Private or Infrastructure. That is certainly the emerging model in the US and in the EC. We're seening lots of activity on that front in US CA NL AT etc. > - IP Telephony integrators (Alcatel, Cisco, Siemens,...)? Maybe... but > they usually work together with the Telcos Think about interconnecting enterprise PBX's. > - the end users ? Yes :) > > Is this user interest going to be enough? Early results from Austria and the EC indicate its a long adoption cycle yes. > And are they willing to pay for this registration? They can use free > ENUM trees.... It depends on how much you charge. Free trees are not e164.apra we have designed the namespace to maximize its authority and integrity. But you cant charge too much for registrations. > How can we push for more ENUM registrations in the e164.arpa tree? Well part of the problem is the scale of the tree and the US and Canada have been part of that problem. The EC countries have been way ahead of us in North America on the adoption curve but now that 1.e164.arpa will come on line soon and Japan and Korea etc there is reason to believe some critical mass will begin to accelerate adoption. > > Thanks > Joao Pereira > FCCN > > -- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Richard Shockey, Director - Member of Technical Staff NeuStar Inc. 46000 Center Oak Plaza - Sterling, VA 20166 sip:rshockey(at)iptel.org sip:57141(at)fwd.pulver.com ENUM +87810-13313-31331 PSTN Office +1 571.434.5651 PSTN Mobile +1 703.593.2683 Fax: +1 815.333.1237 <mailto:richard(at)shockey.us> or <mailto:richard.shockey(at)neustar.biz> <http://www.neustar.biz> ; <http://www.enum.org> <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
