As for the the United States .. and in part CC 1 aka the NANP ... DISCLAIMER THESE ARE PERSONAL OPINIONS ETC The United States ENUM forum is located at.. http://www.enum-forum.org/ The Canadian ENUM forum is located at. http://www.enumorg.ca/ To my knowledge no other national ENUM forums are currently operating within the NANP administration area. What is the country and E.164 code? The North American Numbering Plan [aka CC 1] (NANP) is an integrated telephone numbering plan serving 19 North American countries that share its resources. These countries include the United States and its territories, Canada, Bermuda, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Turks & Caicos. NANP numbers are ten-digit numbers consisting of a three-digit Numbering Plan Area (NPA) code, commonly called an area code, followed by a seven-digit local number. The format is usually represented as NPA-NXX-XXXX Who is the delegate for the E.164 code? The status of ENUM within CC 1 is under considerable discussion . The management of 1 NPA resources will be determined on a nation state basis. The status of deployment (notdelegated>applied>delegated/objected>trial>hiatus>production) Not delegated. However it is probable that delegation will occur at the 1 NPA level directly from the ENUM root aka RIPE NCC. ENUM Project contact details (telephone, email, web) Is a trial being, or going to be, conducted? As of 9.2004 there is speculation that trials could be authorized shortly. Is there work or plans toward full permanent deployment? Yes. See national ENUM forums for documentary details. Who is leading the ENUM project? (government, industry working group, etc.) Industry Working Groups in consultation with appropriate National Regulatory Authorities. Who operates the ccTLD for that country at present? .CA is operated by The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA). A not for profit Canadian corporation that is responsible for operating the dot-ca Internet country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) for all Canadians in an efficient and professional manner. http://www.cira.ca/ .US is operated by NeuStar under contract to the United States Department of Commerce http://www.neustar.us/ What type of organization runs the ccTLD? (state, private, academic, etc.) See above. NeuStar is a privately held United States Corporation. What is the ccTLD legal regulation, if any? for .CA see http://www.cira.ca/en/cat_Cira.html for .US see http://www.neustar.us/policies/index.html Who is the current Tier 1 registry? TBD To be determined Who is, or will be, the permanent Tier 1 registry? TBD How will the Tier 1 registry selection be made? (i.e. decision, license, concession, agreement, public procurement, etc.) Discussions in the United States and Canada have focused on fair and open competitive bidding process. How will the method of cost recovery for the Tier 1 registry's operations? TBD Will there be more than one Tier 1 provider for the country? TBD Will there be ENUM registrars? TBD What will be the ENUM validation technique? TBD Is there/will there be a special number block for ENUM and/or IP Telephony Currently the North American Numbering plan is a "flat namespace". Thereare no service specific blocks associated with it other than freephone (800-866-877 etc.) Wireless specific overlay codes have been authorized but not implemented. There is no current discussion any form of VoIP specific numbering code. Is there special treatment for unlisted numbers? TBD Are there any plans for infrastructure ENUM? Several companies in the United States are already providing infrastructure ENUM services on a private commercial basis. What is your ENUM WHOIS address? Not Available Please provide the history of ENUM trials, projects etc., if any. What are your future plans? (and dates if available) What is your date estimate on a production ENUM registry launch?
