Hmm. Wildcard RRs in the DNS give me the heebie-jeebies. Those
heebie-jeebies are likely to get the heebie-jeebies if wildcards
get inserted somewhere under e164.arpa to solve operational problems
like renumbering. </jim>

Do you intend to let humans "hand craft" the zone files 8:()
That would worry anyone.
I picture a much more complex management system that auto-generates
the appropriate zone files as a presentation of the management system
object state. Hand crafting MAYBE for the early trials, but...

There are other name server implementations that do IXFR. </jim>
Mea culpa - brain failure. Agreed that B8.2.3 and up have IXFR.
(Reflex from early B8 not working quite as planned so this was a
"feature to avoid").
