Folks, > I am also expecting Peter to wade in with the obvious questions on > process. :-) For example, what are this task force's delieverables > and when should they be produced, milestones and so on. Personally, I OK, upon public request ;-) The focus of the TF is probably best phrased in the (now final) minutes of our Tallinn DNS WG meeting: <http://www.ripe.net/ripe/wg/dns/r54-minutes.html>, Item "F": It ends with "... formulate a service outline to put forward during the RIPE NCC Services Working Group at RIPE 55." Of course this would also be for the DNS WG to consider. There's two parts for the servcie to consider: acquisition and validation of the TA data and publication of the TAs. 1) Do we agree that "TLD only" best matches the outcome of the discussion in Tallinn? 2) Is there anything "TLD like" we should consider? For the publication part, my understanding is that, although the term "DLV" was mentioned, the presenter's primary goal was to have an accessible Trust Anchor Repository. While my preference might be obvious, I think the harder part is defining the necessary steps to get in place the trust/contractual relationship between the TA repository manager (the NCC, as it was suggested) and a critical mass of TLD registries. > BTW, the sign the root statement was sent to ICANN and discussed > during the ccNSO session at the ICANN meeting in Puerto Rico. There > wasn't much interest. There were a few questions in the panel session One reason to wait with setting up this TF was we expected "a bit" more feedback. As of today <http://www.icann.org/correspondence/> only shows the letter sent by the NCC and I'm not aware of any other response to t letter. That said, we probably agree that we'd like to see the root signed but the specific task is to develop an interim scenario. -Peter
