Dear colleagues, Last week I wrote about the administrative changes that will be happening with DNSMON, and now I want to let you know about some of the technical changes that will be taking place next year. We are currently working on the detailed planning for 2013, and for DNSMON we came up with the following dates and milestones. In first half of 2013, we are going to migrate DNSMON functionality to RIPE Atlas and the Atlas Anchors. At the same time, we will keep the "old" DNSMON running based on TTM boxes for the existing clients. We are going to tackle this in two phases: - During Q1, we will prepare data collection and visualisation developments and offer this as a pilot during Q2 2013. This will be offered to the existing clients first and for the same domains. - If the pilot is successful, we will be able to take on new DNSMON clients in second half of 2013. Because of these changes, we expect to have no capacity for additional measurements during the first six months of 2013. This is due to the current storage and visualisation back-end rather than any limitation with RIPE Atlas. During the second half of 2013, we expect to be able to extend capacity again. We do not know if demand will exceed supply by this time because we cannot predict demand due to a whole number of concurrent developments, including the introduction of new gTLDs and the change of DNSMON to a membership service. We will of course try to satisfy requests by DNSMON users to the best of our abilities.
