Dec 17, 1997 In a recent posting on its FTP server and on the IETF mailing list AT&T announced: "Please be advised that as of March 31, 1998, InterNIC [Directory and Database Services] will be discontinuing service. If services are provided somewhere else, we will provide pointers." The service[s] to which the announcement refers are the InterNIC Directory and Database Services provided by AT&T under a Cooperative Agreement with the National Science Foundation. The announcement does not, in any way, refer to the InterNIC Domain Name Registration Services provided by Network Solutions.
