[db-wg] Question about personal info

Dear DB Group,

I am trying to clean our objets in the database. I downloaded the database
file from the ftp and all objects are like this:

The admin-c and tech-c fields contains "DUMY-RIPE" and the object includes
the remarks about the object modification.

After writing to ripe-dbm at ripe.net (reply attached), I have some comments:

a) IMHO this is not correct, because:

a1. The fields admin-c and tech-c don't contains personal data, is only a
RIPE admin identifier
a2. The fields mnt-routers, mnt-by, mnt-lower,... contains "personal data"
too

b) How can I check my objects? We have a lot of objects (>>300), and is not
possible to get them using the ripe.net/whois webpage. What should I do?
Probably we could have an option to download "my the LIR part" of the
database (like assused).

The RIPE Community Data Protection Task Force met at the RIPE 56
Meeting in Berlin in May 2008 with representatives of the RIPE NCC and
their legal advisers. During this meeting the discussions on the issue
of bulk access to personal data held in the RIPE Database were
concluded.

The main points that were considered were:

 1. Data Protection laws in the Netherlands and the European Union

2. The reasons why people ask for bulk access

3. Alternative technical solutions

After long discussions, it was agreed unanimously that the RIPE
NCC cannot allow bulk access to personal data.

If you feel there should be a change to this policy, then you may
want to raise the issue on the Database Working Group.
