Dear Working Group, As discussed during the remote session last week, the RIPE NCC has also developed a response to the open consultation on the draft NIS 2 Directive. Our submission can be found here: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/12475-Revision-of-the-NIS-Directive/F2004629 The consultation closes today, but it’s a very positive sign to see that many other organisations (and individuals!) from RIPE and the global Internet technical community (including a number of the root server operators) have responded, reinforcing the arguments made in the submissions by the RIPE NCC and the RIPE Cooperation Working Group Co-Chairs. All public responses can be found on the European Commission website: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/12475-Revision-of-the-NIS-Directive/feedback?p_id=16748318 Best regards, Chris —— Chris Buckridge Head of External Relations RIPE NCC > On 18 Mar 2021, at 15:20, Desiree Miloshevic <miloshevic at gmail.com> wrote: > > Dear members of the Working Group > > The Cooperation Working Group held a remote session last week, the archives of which have been shared to the list. It was clear during that session that there were concerns from members of the RIPE community, and that the timeline for making any formal response was very limited (with a deadline of 18 March). > > Unfortunately, despite some very active discussion during the session, there was not much further discussion on the list. However, the Working Group Co-Chairs felt that, while there is not agreed “RIPE community position”, it is important that the concerns raised should be conveyed to EU policymakers. > > To that end, two of the Co-Chairs (not including Achilleas, who has recused himself from this activity as an employee of the European Commission) have developed a response to the current open consultation that highlights the key concerns expressed in the remote session. The submission asks that EU policymakers work closely with members of the RIPE community to refine the NIS2 draft and address the concerns raised. > > You can find the details of our Co-Chairs submission here: > > https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/12475-Cybersecurity-review-of-EU-rules-on-the-security-of-network-and-information-systems/F2004655 > > Regards > > Desiree and Julf. > > RIPE Coop WG Co-Chairs > -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
