This policy gives the RIPE NCC a mandate to regularly validate "abuse-mailbox:" information and to follow up in cases where the attribute is deemed to be incorrect. As part of the implementation, we carried out an initial validation of all "abuse-mailbox:" attributes in the RIPE Database that reference Internet number resources. Of around 77,000 email addresses, ~5,500 were marked as invalid and we followed up to ensure they contained a working email.
