There is a number of ways to provent this happen, a good customer contract is a good start, surveillance of outbound mail another, blocking port 25 from customers pc a third. As i understand they did nothing of the sort - thus spam will happen. ( spammers are seeking unprotected pc's on sloppy ISP network. When they find it they plant a trojan and start spewing spam. Preventing this in the first place is a good start. Whan spam is detected isolation of affected pc's another step) Sending mail to my servers is not an inherent right, it's something that is granted on MY conditions.
