Interesting. I've never experienced anything like that, but I've not 
made applications since "Last /8" came in.  I should think that asking
for bank statements and credit reports would be a data protection issue 
to say the least. 
If this is the case (and again, I've not experienced such requests
myself) it is all the more reason to strongly support 2013-03...
