Yes, it is, in my experience. You want to keep the overlap period as small as possible. AMS-IX has renumbered its several peering LANs a couple of times in the past decade, and experience shows that a timeline set several months in advance with a week in which to complete the renumbering works pretty well. Smaller peering LANs that may be comprised of less active peers may take longer to reach all parties but 180 days should still suffice, and serve as a good hard deadline for the process. -- Niels. --
