I'll leave this part to Peter, since I'm not sure how to care for dropping the "correct" parts - I still believe we'll have to make sure the full set gets through to the requestor, and the dropping occurs there. And then you're again stuck with your 510 Byte limit. Unless...unless of course you can influence the order in which your $DNS_SOFTWARE outputs the records. Alas, I'm not comfortable with dropped content, so I favour the "smaller packet" approach.
