IPv6 RIPEness

After 15 years of service, we decided to retire the IPv6 RIPEness initiative in 2024. The IPv6 RIPEness initiative was created to encourage and measure IPv6 readiness among RIPE NCC members, awarding stars based on key indicators.

It played its role in the 2010s in tracking and supporting IPv6 adoption among our members. However, with the continued growth of IPv6 usage and the development of more advanced tools, the need for this particular system has diminished. The platform, which was a prototype, has not been updated for some years, and thus accumulated technical debt.

We want to thank all the members who participated and contributed to the success of this initiative. While we are retiring the IPv6 RIPEness prototype, we remain committed to supporting the community in its IPv6 deployment efforts.

More information about RIPEness is available on RIPE Labs.
