Hello RIPE NCC member,

You will be pleased to know that there will be no more emails asking you to participate in the RIPE NCC Survey! A big thank you to everyone who participated in the survey and helped spread the word. We had over five thousand people participate this year, with 4,161 people completing to the end! Survey Matters is now busy reading and analysing your responses, and we look forward to presenting the findings at RIPE 79 in Rotterdam. Now, for your July Member Update!

LIR STATISTICS
Number of LIRs: 23,326 (+663)

Policy transfers in June: 628,736 IPv4 addresses (+75,776)
 

-- Improving our Service Management Tool (Zendesk)
Earlier this year, members raised a security concern on the way we store attachments on Zendesk. When a user sent an email attachment to us, we stored it in the Zendesk environment, causing a potential privacy issue. We addressed this concern at RIPE 78, advising the community that we would store attachments on our internal documents system (Alfresco). Attachments are now removed from Zendesk as soon as a ticket is updated. 


-- RIPE Database Release
We have made some improvements to the Whois RDAP service. The service now conforms to the RDAP standards and behaves more consistently, including address formatting and RIPE-specific attributes. You can find the release notes at:

-- The RIPE NCC Certified Professionals Pilot Exam
Test the testers! You still have the chance to take part in our pilot testing for the RIPE Database exam. If selected, you could earn our first digital badge, and be one of the very first RIPE NCC Certified Professionals!

After a few weeks of testing, we have released Validator 3.1. This version offers a stable and fast user experience along with a Docker image. You can download the latest version at:

-- RIPEstat Service Terms and Conditions

-- New RIPEstat Abuse Reporting Feature in the Making
Together with Samaneh Tajalizadehkhoob - Lead Security, Stability and Resiliency Specialist at ICANN - we are planning to add a new feature that provides analytics on domain and IP address abuse for different threat types such spam, phishing and malware. Currently we are in the phase of evaluating abuse feeds. More information about the methodology can be found at:

-- RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund – Apply Now!
You can apply for the RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund until 1 September 2019. The fund provides up to EUR 250,000 per year to support projects of value to the operation and resilience of the Internet. Do consider that there is a focus on tools and services benefitting the technical communities in Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia.
