It depends on the origin:
http://www.afrinic.net/cgi-bin/whois
https://ws.arin.net/whois
http://lacnic.net/cgi-bin/lacnic/whois?lg=EN
http://www.db.ripe.net/whois
http://wq.apnic.net/apnic-bin/whois.pl
I think it would be easier to have 1 only big whois primary source which may be replicated in each continent.
