Become a RIPE NCC Member

If your organisation needs IPv6 address space and AS Numbers, and/or makes assignments to End Users or customers, you should become a RIPE NCC member.

While we have run out of IPv4 addresses, eligible RIPE NCC members can normally request a single /24 allocation via our IPv4 Waiting List. Any legal entity or natural person can become a member of the RIPE NCC.

An organisation that needs IPv6 address space or an AS Number does not necessarily need to become a member of the RIPE NCC and can get independent resources via a sponsoring LIR. Joining the RIPE NCC is a simple process that you can start right now by clicking the button. The first page contains important information that you will need to know and have with you during the application process.

About the Membership Application Process

Once we receive your application form, we will do a check according to our Due Diligence Procedures.

Please note that you cannot become a member:

  • If your membership was terminated for providing fraudulent or misleading information to the RIPE NCC. This restriction remains in place for five years from the date your Standard Service Agreement (SSA) was terminated.
  • If you or your organisation are subject to EU sanctions.

After verification of the documents provided during the application, we will send you the RIPE NCC Standard Service Agreement (SSA) and the invoice by email. Please be aware that you need to sign the documents by hand as electronic signatures are not accepted.

Only one application will be processed at a time. We will only proceed with any subsequent application for a multiple LIR once the LIR account of the former application has been activated. New membership applications from related legal entities will be also be processed in this way.

Once we receive your payment and signed SSA, we will activate your LIR account. At this moment, you will receive an email and all the information you need to know as a new member. You will then be able to log in to the LIR Portal, the secure web area for RIPE NCC members to manage everything related to their membership and the Internet number resources they hold, and start requesting Internet number resources.

It is possible for a legal entity to open additional LIR accounts. If you wish to open additional LIR accounts, you will need to submit a new application form. You will need to pay a one-time sign-up fee and an annual membership fee. For a detailed overview of the costs involved in becoming a member, please see the RIPE NCC Charging Scheme and the RIPE NCC Billing Procedure and Fee Schedule.

Also, you should take the following into account:

  • /24 IPv4 allocations are subject to the RIPE Resource Transfer Policies and can therefore only be transferred 24 months after the allocation date.
  • Members with multiple LIR accounts are entitled to just one vote at RIPE NCC General Meetings. The oldest LIR account will receive the vote.
  • Members opening an additional LIR account need to sign the LIR Account Agreement

You can only submit one application at a time. If you need to submit a new application to open an additional LIR account, you will have to first wait that your previous application is processed. All applications not complying with the "one at a time" rule will be closed.

We will also proceed with membership applications from related legal entities (with the same contact person, directors, owners, applicant, etc.) one by one, once the LIR account of the former application has been activated.
