IRIS Server Prototype

Introduction

As part a project to implement the IRIS protocol (also known as CRISP), the RIPE NCC has set up a prototype IRIS server for public testing. The server implements the AREG protocol, and provides live data from the RIPE Database.

You can find more information about the project at:

About the Server Software

We have set up the prototype server as a proxy in front of the RIPE Database. It is based on the FlowerBed server implementation developed by VeriSign Labs. Related code changes have been fed back into the main FlowerBed code base you can download from the project website.

Clients

Web Query Interface

There is a simple web interface at the following address:

http://www.ripe.net/cgi-bin/test-iris/areg-query.pl

Perl Client Library

The RIPE NCC has developed a prototype Perl client that can be used to make queries to AREG servers. This is not a complete client implementation, but we feel that it will be useful for people that want to test the service.

You can download this module at:

ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/dbase/software/Net-IRIS-Areg1-0.02.tar.gz

Graphical Client

Pimmit is an IRIS client developed by VeriSign Research. It features a graphical user interface that supports all registry specific query types.

For more information and downloadable packages, visit the VeriSign Labs project site at:
