OAuth 2.0 Available for the RIPE Database
RIPE NCC members can now use OAuth 2.0 to authenticate applications that interact with the RIPE Database. This requested feature supports secure delegated access, allowing third parties to make changes to database objects without exposing user credentials.

Khipu: Prototype RIPE Atlas Traceroute Visualisation Tool
The RIPE Atlas team is developing a new tool for traceroute visualisations that should make analysing large traceroute measurements much clearer and easier.
Expanding AuthDNS - Impact of Adding a New Node in the Philippines
In June 2025 we activated a new AuthDNS node, hosted at Maharlika IX in Makati City, Manilla Metro, Philippines. In this article, we look at what impact this had for DNS clients in the country as well as to the AuthDNS system as a whole.
ICANN Consultation: Functional Model for Root Server System Governance
ICANN is seeking public comments on a proposed “Functional Model” for governance of the DNS root server system.

The Review Phase started on 7 August. You can submit your comments to the Routing WG Mailing List before 5 September.
Second Consultation on Updating ICP-2
The NRO NC will soon publish an updated draft of the “RIR Governance Document” intended to replace ICP-2. They will also invite input from the RIPE community on this second draft through the RIPE Discussion list, in an online RIPE NCC Open House session and during the upcoming RIPE Meeting. More details will be published soon.
Advancing RPKI: NRO RPKI Program in 2025 for Trust, Transparency and User Experience
Sofía Silva Berenguer gives an update on the NRO RPKI Program which aims to enhance the transparency, robustness and security of the RPKI system while also increasing the consistency of the RPKI system user experience across RIRs.

4. Organisational Update
Register Now for the General Meeting October 2025
Registration is now open for the RIPE NCC General Meeting (GM) October 2025, taking place 22-24 October 2025. The meeting will be held online for remote participants and onsite in Bucharest, Romania, at the JW Marriott Grand Hotel, alongside RIPE 91.
NRO NC: Call for Nominations 2025
The call for nominations to fill one seat on the Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) is open until 29 September 2025. An election will be held during RIPE 91 to fill this seat for a three-year term starting in January 2026 and ending in December 2028.
RIR Governance Document Consultation Summary Report Published
The Number Resource Organization Number Council (NRO NC) has completed its qualitative analysis and summary of the community responses received in response to the community engagements to gather feedback on the draft Governance Document for the Recognition, Maintenance, and Derecognition of Regional Internet Registries (“RIR Governance Document”).
